India v Australia: First Test Review
October 6th 2010 01:35
Who said test cricket was dead? This test match proved that cricket is better than sex! It had everything, and the one thing that people will talk about forever and a day was the poor umpiring decisions.
Hussey,Gambir and Sharma got shocking decisions and then with one wicket left for the Australians to win and looked to have won it with a plumb LBW decision but was turned down by Billy Bowden. A lot of people would now be calling to have refferals avaible, but not me.
I believe that Test cricket has been played for a hundred years with human error always a factor. While it will always be contenious it has been since day 1. Besides it gives everyone somthing to talk about and gives interest to the game. However, it is unforuntate when decisions can determine a match, series or worse someones test match career and there I do feel for the players who are only doing their best for the nation.
The standard of cricket was not the greatest with drop catches from both sides and some poor bowling and batting but it provided a great contest and went down to the wire which is what everyone wants to see. Watson showed that he is in great form and Johnson and Hilfenhaus gave the Australians something to cheer about with the ball.
Tendulkar was again great with the bat. Zaheer Khan showed that he is one of the best left armers in the game and Laxman batted India to victory while injured which showed a lot about his character.
Having said that I would think that Marcus North has played his final Test Match for Australia failing in both innings he will find it hard to retain his spot. I would have no drama dropping him for Usman Kwaja (wrong Spelling) who is a young bright and gifted cricketer who will be a Test Player for Australia one day so why not get him into the team now?
Can't wait to see what happens in the 2nd Test.
